Diamonds come from:

Today about 95% of the world's diamond supply is mined in South Africa. However, diamonds are still mined in South America, Australia, Russia and Canada.

Diamonds may be buried for thousands of years before being excavated from blue rock (blue rock can be found up to 75 miles deep in the earth), or they may be released through the process of erosion and re-deposited in alluvium, forming alluvial (riverside) deposits. Diamonds can also be found in "yellow ground which is 50 to 60 feet into the ground.
